Event report of the ninth International Maritime Defence Show IMDS-2019
The ninth International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS-2019) finished its work successfully being one of the world leading exhibitions in shipbuilding and naval armament.
The results of the Show demonstrate its high demand among marine industry enterprises. Event high status and place in the world system of defense exhibitions were reconfirmed.
IMDS-2019 exhibitors became 353 enterprises of 20 countries including 28 foreign companies. The exposition occupied 15,000 sq. m. of exhibition space in halls as well as outdoor display, Sea Terminal quays and water area of the exhibition complex. All leading marine enterprises of Russia were participants of the Show. The great part of the exposition was occupied by manufacturers of component equipment, appliances, electronic elements, information technologies and double purpose products.
IMDS-2019 broad format allowed to present enterprises’ products on stands and full-scale models near quays, on outdoor and water areas.
Demonstration part of Sea Terminal quays included ships and boats of the Russian Defence Ministry, the Russian Federal Security Service, the Russian Emergency Ministry:

At the berths of the exhibition complex 22 boats of participating companies were demonstrated.
IMDS-2019 brought 50 official delegations from 36 countries. Almost all countries dealing with production and exploitation of naval equipment attended the Show.
Over 130 official negotiations were held in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, officials of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, representatives of Rosoboronexport and United Shipbuilding Corporation and other leading companies.
Within congress and business events there were 15 events including four scientific conferences:
10th International Conference on Navy and Shipbuilding Nowadays NSN’2019;
XX International Conference MORINTECH-PRACTIC on Information technologies in shipbuilding-2019;
PLM-FORUM 2019 on Shipbuilding product lifecycle management. Information support;
5th International Conference on Simulation and complex modeling in marine engineering and marine transporting systems – SCM MEMTS 2019.
Traditionally there was IMDS-2019 award sailing regatta supported by the sailing union of St. Petersburg.
Interfax Information Services Group provided information support and press center of IMDS-2019. The Show was covered by 454 journalists from 120 mass media including 28 foreign ones from 8 countries.
Over 46 000 specialists visited IMDS-2019. Considering the link of St. Petersburg citizens with marine industry, patriotic traditions and interest in the Show, citizens and guests had an opportunity to attend the exhibition, warships and boats at the quays.
The results of the Show are the evidence of Russian and foreign companies pursue the active marketing policy aimed to broaden their participation in the international cooperation on development and production of technically sophisticated systems such as warships.
